  1. It came from Mexico where it is said that a woman's children were drowned and after her death, people have seen her walking along waterways wailing for her children.  Heard this from my parents.  I am at this time Mexican.

  2. Legend has it that she drowned her children in the river  & following her death her spirit could be seen & heard (cries) along the river .  She would be seen wearing black w/ a veil over her face.  I was told this story when I was a child.  I always thought it was just a story to scare me to being good.  My parents would tell me & my siblings that the La Llorona would get us if we did not go to sleep & behave.  It was used as a discipline tactic.  But as years went on I heard people talk about how they had seen her standing on the river banks wailing.  I have heard about the La Llorona in several different states.  I am a half breed  half Spanish & half Native American.  .

  3. I heard she wears black and somtimes she poses as a hitchhiker and and people pick her up and during conversation she leaves. I also heard she killed her children by drowning them because she was in love with a man and he didn't like her because she had children then he still didn't like her and she killed herself. i am Creole.
