  1. A day in the life of an MP could be a routine patrol, answering a fatality call, securing a route through hostile territory, liasing with local and federal authorities, conducting traffic control, all the things that a local police officer does and the chance to go overseas.  been there done that.  great idea and a lot better than being a grunt humping a pack for thirty k's in the middle of the day, been there and done that too. 12 years Australian Army

  2. One of the best things about both worlds (MP/LEO) is that you finish your tour with the knowledge that you either helped someone or were ready to help.

The daily life is either very boreing, standing a TCP (traffic control point) for four hours or extremely exciting (responding to barricade suspect) or very dangerous (armed domestic disturbance).  In between all this there are reams of papers to be filled out. No agency, military or civilian seem to be able to function with out numerous reports on every incident you can imagine.

The training of an Office never ends!  Every day there are new and inovative methods of doing operations tasks as well as updated methods of handeling medical emergencies; ie use of defib's by street officers.

It takes years of training and street eduction to become a competent officer. After going thru all the formal education you soon learn that every thing the instructors taught you are nothing but guidlines to any situation. Each call you respond to is dictated by the characteristics of the individuals involved. Something as simple as a barking dog complaing can evolve into an armed disorderly subject.

You can also find your self going from a squad car patroling either a military insallation to an armoured Humvee escorting a convoy in combat. It is a very interesting, self motavating and a career filled with satisfaction.
