they can not be deported once they set foot on american soil.

i forget what the policy is called, but they are considered refugees and can not be deported back to cuba.

if the coast guard stops them while they are at sea then the cubans can be sent back to cuba.

Cubanshave bee in this country for along time most of the cubans came over to united states and married giving them legal status thats probably where you came from  I know of one his name was desi arnez  he was married to lucy ball he was a band leader back in the 50s
