I mean no disrespect to Istanbul, I've visited there briefly and I absolutely love it. I'm thinking of visiting during Ramadan as I will be close to the country- will everything be open and will it be safe for a single female.

  1. Don't worry at all. During Ramadan, life does not stop in Ä°stanbul. It will be safe and yeah, everything (museums, shopping malls, restaurants, night clubs, etc.) will be open.

  2. just watch out your clothing and avoid eating/drinking on the street (just for respect, if you wanna eat, you can) i think you ll enjoy it. What s more? it is a very good idea to visit in Ramadan coz the city will be culturally high :D

  3. I obviously do not know from personal experience, but I would say that it generally would be safe because you are there to be a tourist (as I assume) But my question to you is that the first time you went did you go alone? Because to my knowledge many hotels will not allow a woman to stay alone in a hotel and must be accompanied by a man, but that may have been changed recently.

  4. It will be just as safe as any other time of course (if any different then safer, since Ramadan should be a time for more peace etc).  But really, there will be no difference on the street.  If you know (or meet) any locals, you may be invited to the "iftar" - the evening meal to break the fast. By all means, DO ACCEPT if this is the case. What a great way to see the culture! They don´t care if you haven´t fasted, so don´t be ashamed! Just go and enjoy! It is a nice time to be in Istanbul! Have fun!

  5. Time in Ramadan is funnier than normal times. Because, everybody wonders around and visit each other. People are happy and blissful. I mean it will be good time for you to visit in Ramadan. Besides, everywhere is open during the Ramadan. Do not worry.

  6. In Ramadan life does not stop in Istanbul or the other parts in Turkey. And also there are too many people who don't fast in Ramadan. But be respectful to people who fast...You can wear whatever you like I don't agree with a friend who told you not to wear mini skirt. You can wear whatever you want in expensive and luxury neighborhoods.Waste much money on staying in a 5 star luxury, safe hotel to have a nice visit.

  7. You make Istanbul sound like some freakking war zone... Why wouldn't it be safe in ramadan.

Some guy got decapitated in canada on a bus while he was sleeping by a man sitting next to him.

If you are gonna base your life on fear then dont leave your house.

Potter that statement is so stupid and untrue. Obviously pulling it out of your ***

  8. May be it's the safest 30-days period in Turkey because most of the people are trying to live their religion. But don't wear mini skirts and don't eat and drink in the streets for respect. But of course it's not forbidden. One more thing; you can stay alone in a hotel room. But try to choose safe hotels even you have to pay a litle bit more..
