  1. Are you aware of the duties of a 'ramp agent?'

Ramp Agent is a fancy name for baggage handler.  At big airports, all they do all day is lift and tote other people's luggage in and out of airplanes, and in and out of airport baggage transport systems.  You also spend time crawling around inside the belly of the airplane on your hands and knees, stacking and shifting baggage, while the temperature on the ramp goes from minus 40 to plus 120 degrees, and you're expected to work in the rain and the snow and all sorts of nasty weather, from 4 in the morning to after Midnight, and no weekends or holidays off.

All of this for near minimum hourly wage.  Most airline companies will keep you scheduled at less than 35 hours a week, so you don't qualify as a "Full-Time Employee"  and don't qualify for any benefits.

Yeppir!  Sounds like a job I really want to do!

  2. If you get in at a good airline then they will pay well. I worked as a ramp agent at Southwest airlines for 4 years. Started at 8.75 finished at 10.50 with an annual raise. Would of topped out at 23.00 after the 10th year. Not to mention the 401k plan benefit.

  3. For a major airline in the NY?NJ area they start out at $10.00 /hr.

  4. I GOT PAID 8.50  at nwa but that was along time ago

  5. I am actually looking into becoming a ramp agent, and i believe the hourly wage is from minimum wage to about $10.

Skywest in Denver is offering $10.25/hr.

    But starting wage is $7.50/hr.

I hope this helped. Good Luck and Blue Skies.
