Just wondering what to do..?

Ok well i was just wondering if its a good idea to take all my digital photos and dump them onto flash drives cause I have way to many and they slow down my laptop. But I'm kind of concerned that if I do that then something may happen and i would lose my photos.

So i was wondering if i should or should not put all my photos onto flash drives and if i shouldn't then is there another way that i could get my photos onto something else so that they don't slow down my laptop.

It's best to use blank DVDs or blank CDs. But don't use rewritable ones. Write one time disks will last longer.
