Just wondering what type of amplifier i need to run my subwoofer....Do i need a monoblock or can i use any?

Hi, i was just wondering do i have to have a monoblock amp to run my subwoofer or can i use a 2 or 4 channel amp. Also im setting up an amp and subwoofer at home. What do i use to ground the amp?

  1. You can use any amp you want. But a mono would be ideal as you only need 1 channel, or a two channel that you can bridge to 1 channel.

    Assuming you're talking about a car amplifier at home since you're talking grounding it? Since you don't ground a proper home theater amp.. Same way you would in a car, hook it up to the negative terminal on the battery. Though I wouldn't suggest using a 12v car amp in a house, due to the battery, potential to explode and releases explosive, harmful gases, though chances are slim that it would ever be a problem, I still wouldn't put a car battery in my house. And you need to have a charger hooked up to the battery while the amp is on, and a pretty good one at that.

    Just buy a proper amp for it, they're cheap
