Just wondering why none of the AGW experts climate models never factor in the effects of precipitation?

or large bodies of water into their calulations on Global Warming? It's virtually impossible to have an accurate climate model without factoring them in.

  1. They do correlate land and sea surface temps. Predictions due to thermal contrast have not always proved accurate. The relative humidity (RH) and winds in tropical climates makes this difficult. But they do try to compensate by using more then one model. Basically these are scenarios of what could be, and what is (BAU), business as usual.

This is a very basic explanation, but I hope it helps.

  2. Just out of curiousity, why do you think they call them "coupled ocean-atmosphere general circulation models?"

Anyway, great question.  Love to see thinking in action!  You are quite correct, if climate models didn't include large bodies of water they would certainly be in error.  It is clear why there is so much scientific uncertainty.  Write this up and submit it to Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society to let the world know you've found the "smoking gun."

I learn so much cool stuff from people like you.  Two thumbs up *and* a head up.

  3. Large bodies of water are certainly figured into the models.  The difference in heat capacity and reflectivity between land and water is crucial.

Precipitation is not much of a factor, other than it removes water vapor from the air, keeping it relatively constant.  No need to include it.

  4. Do you think that just because you are ignorant of the existence of something (clearly outside of your realm of expertise), that therefore it must not exist?

Ever hear of a coupled atmosphere-ocean general circulation model (AOGCM)?  I have.  They are used quite extensively in climate science research.

  5. Preciptation is not much of a factor??????

You have got to be kidding!!!!!!!

That sounds about as ludicrous as, "Somebody show me peer reviewed science that shows that the sun warms us!"

Please tell me that you are kidding?

  6. Precipitation? h**l, I would be happy if they modeled clouds even.
