Justin Bieber crowned the MVP of NBA All-Star Celebrity Game
After being reduced to tears at the Grammy awards just a week back, the teen singing sensation Justin Bieber finally had a reason to smile about on Friday night.
In a game that can be easily described as one of the least skilled game of the All-Star weekend, Bieber was playing for the West.
Although West lost by 54-49 and Justin Bieber was probably the last person on the floor who actually deserved the award with a stat line of eight points, two rebounds and four dimes, yet, as long as the lip glossed 16 year old
has legions of screaming fans, he will win whatever he d**n well pleases.
And tonight, it just so happened to be the MVP of the NBA Celebrity All-Star Game.
In a game where the West completely got stuffed by a certain NBA Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen, who canned 17 points on 6-8 shooting in a winning effort for East, it was Beiber who emerged out as the ultimate winner.
Bieber was at the centre stage from the very moment the game kicked off. Scampering up and down the court with his famous shaggy 'do bouncing; Beiber easily overshadowed the other stars, who also seemed more interested in Beiber
than the game.
"He has the softest hair," marvelled former Los Angeles Laker Rick Fox, who patted his West teammate Bieber on the head during the game.
Wearing a black T-shirt under his red-and-white jersey, Bieber spent most of the game fastening up his shorts that fell well below the knee. The rest of the time was busy offering smiles to the shrieking female fans, who simply
went berserk as soon as he got his hands to the ball. In the midst of all that hard work though, Beiber did take some time to make some well orchestrated moves.
Beiber was involved in some early action, feeding his team mate A.C. Green for the first basket of the game. He then followed it with some slick dribbling behind his back, as he drove down the lane with a move that eventually found
the net from the hands of NBA analyst Jalen Rose.
Beiber also displayed his long range shooting prowess down the stretch with a canny triple pointer.
"I'm just running back and forth," Bieber said during an in-game interview. "I'm controlling this whole team. I'm just kidding."
However Bieber missed a crucial 3-pointer with 30 seconds to go as his team lost narrowly.
The other celebrities on the West team were Zac Levi of "Chuck", R&B singer Trey Songz, rapper Lil’ Romeo Miller and Rob Kardashian, whose sister Khloe is married to Los Angeles Lakers forward Lamar Odom.
"He didn't embarrass the family," Odom who was present during the entire game said of Rob afterward.
WNBA player Swin Cash, a prolific scorer and rebounder, was also on the West team coached by the legendary Magic Johnson.
The East was represented by Scottie Pippen, First Team All-WNBA star Tamika Catchings and Common, who led the New Jersey Nets to an NBA championship in a movie.
To put the night in perspective, this is what happens when you let the fans decide. Beiber won the MVP due to his infinite popularity among the fans and Pippens, despite being the odds on favourite was left wandering. He was gracious
enough post match though as he talked about Justin.
"He played pretty well, but he has an ugly shot."
