Justin Bolli earns the PGA Tour card after winning the Web.com Tour Championship at TPC Craig Ranch
Justin Bolli fired a six-under par 65 in the final round of the Web.com Tour Championship at TPC Craig Ranch, to bag his fourth Web.com Tour title and the PGA Tour card for the 2013 golf season.
The Web.com Tour Championship was the last chance for the players to make it to the top-25 in the money list, and earn their PGA Tour cards for the upcoming season.
At the end of the tournament, only three players managed to place their names in the top-25. Bolli, who was ranked 44 in the list, made a strong move and finished ninth in the rankings.
The American started off his last round campaign listed third on the leaderboard. He posted two birdies in a row to start off his round and added another two shots on the sixth and the ninth hole.
The back nine of the course also witnessed him make a similar start. He carded birdies on the 11th and the 12th hole.
Afterwards, he recorded two more birdies against the same number of bogeys to finish the tournament two strokes better than James Hahn.
At the end of the tournament, he himself was shocked with his position in the rankings, as he would have never thought of making it to the PGA Tour at the 11th hour.
According to the golf commentators, Bolli tried not to take the pressure of the rankings and kept on playing his natural game.
That was the major reason behind his success in the season-ending tournament at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney.
Morgan Hoffmann, who started the 2012 Web.com Tour season through sponsor exemption, also finished the year in the top-25 in the rankings.
Entering the tournament last week, he was listed at the 31st position and easily cracked the top-25 through a third-place finish in Texas.
"I attacked very well today," Hoffman said after posting the lowest score Sunday. "It worked out great. I'm sitting here happy now. I feel like I have to go to a Monday qualifier, it's so ingrained what I've been doing the last year-and-a-half. It just feels
great”.
