Justin Christian looks to get back to the Leagues soon
It’s not easy being a 29 year old Mexican, who’s looking for a way back into Major League Baseball. Ask Justin Christian and he’ll tell you.
The former New York Yankees’ player is currently featuring in the Caribbean World Series and he’s playing with the Mexicans.
The left fielder has been trying to find his way back in to the Major Leagues and it’s been a long journey to the end. There isn’t much opportunity in the field and that hasn’t been supporting the player in any way.
He didn’t want to cast a shadow on his fortune when he didn’t tell many about his minor league deal with the San Francisco Giants but it seems now that the cat is out of the bag.
There is a lot to learn here and one thing, the veteran has to grasp is his form. When he played with the Yankees in 2008, he featured in 28 games. Having 40 At Bats, the player managed to hit 10, driving his batting average to .250.
The highlight of his short stint with the club showcased 6 runs, 3 doubles and 6 Runs Batted In (RBIs). Christian recently went 0 for 4 against the Puerto Ricans on Sunday and he was able to talk about his journey in baseball.
"I've had a lot of my friends throughout the years that got drafted and had an organization believe in them from the very beginning, but there's a totally different side to it, and that's where I come from”.
He has been joined by the likes of Luis Ayala, Joe Newby, Manny Ayala, Juan Pablo and Alex Cintron. They are all looking for a way back in to the game but only some can get lucky in the highly competitive game.
"Playing winter ball without a job in the U.S. is very difficult if you think about it, so I didn't think about it", said Christian, who also had offers to play in Mexico".
Whatever the case may be, Christian’s recent form with the Yankees’ Double A club, Trenton and Triple A club, Scranton has been comforting enough. The Giants have signed him on but when will his major league break come? That’s a tough question.
