Justin Christian sparks as San Francisco Giants defeat Los Angeles Dodgers 8-5 - MLB Update
San Francisco Giants’ out-fielder, Justin Christian had a remarkable day with the bat as he went 3-for-5 with an average of .258 and hit three RBIs in the Giants’ 8-5 win against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles on September 21.
Giants got a 3-0 lead during first inning when the batters scored three quick runs. Carlos Beltran contributed the first run for the Giants when Brett Pill hit a single-run drive towards centre-field. The second and third runs were taken by Pill and Brandon
Belt when Mike Fontenot drove a single-run shot towards left-field. Mark DeRosa advanced to second base at the end of the Giants’ first inning.
The batters were stuck by the pitchers on their tricky pitches during the second and third inning of the game. Aaron Miles hit a grounder into fielder’s choice to second base but James Loney got out at second base. A.J. Ellis singled off left-centre but
Jerry Sands and Dana Eveland both flied out to centre-field at the bottom of the second inning.
Jamey Carroll and Matt Kemp both flied out during the third inning while Dee Gordon ground out without adding any run to the Dodgers’ score-card. Giants advanced their lead 5-0 in the fourth inning when DeRosa and Chris Stewart both scored two collective
runs on the double-run shot of Christian to deep centre-field.
On the other side, Dodgers contributed four runs to reduce their lead 5-4 at the bottom of fifth inning. Eugenio Velez scored one run when Carroll hit a single-run drive towards centre-field and Gordon moved to second base. Kemp struck a three-run homer
(410 feet) to left-centre while Gordon and Carroll both added two runs jointly to complete a four-run campaign for Los Angeles.
In the sixth inning, DeRosa put another run on the score-board to raise the Giants’ lead 6-4 when Christian singled off right-field. Giants led off 8-4 during the seventh inning by posting two runs. Andres Torres scored a single run on the drive of Pill
towards deep centre while Pill added the last run for Giants when DeRosa hit a sacrifice fly to centre-field.
At the bottom of the ninth, Dodgers were able to post one run and cut their deficit 8-5. Kemp contributed the final run when Loney drove towards right-field. As a result, Giants tied the three-game series 1-1 after defeating the Dodgers in the second game.
