Justin Langer suggests Australia has a strong batting side
Australia’s batting coach Justin Langer has come out in support of Australia’s batsmen. With less than 3 days to go before the first Ashes Test, suggestions and comments are coming from every corner regarding the series outcome and player form from both
sides.
Both teams have left no stone unturned in commenting on the different aspects and dynamics of the opposition. The basic idea is to exploit any weakness of the opposition that would give them a certain advantage over the other before the first Test.
Comments raging from Kevin Pieterson’s form, to media reports of rifts within the Australian team over Michael Clarke’s captaincy have been making the headlines in all sports pages.
Justin Langer also dismissed the suggestions that in form England would have an advantage in the first Test. England has been playing consistent cricket for the past year or so and they have not lost any Test series during this time.
England’s side has also become more professional in their approach and their players have also shown more consistent performances. Many former players have named England as favourites and have also suggested that this is England’s best chance since Mike
Gatting’s team won The Ashes in Australia in 1986/87.
Australia’s former opener has backed the Australian side and he is confident that their experience in batting would play an important role in regaining the Ashes. Australia has been going through a rough patch in recent times as they lost 7 consecutive matches
in all forms of cricket.
Their batsmen have not been that consistent in their batting and bowlers have lacked the killer punch that was once associated with Australian bowlers.
However, Justin Langer was of the view that The Ashes series is evenly balanced. He said that if we look at the top seven batsmen of Australia we will see that they have played more Test matches, made more Test runs, have a good average and have scored more
first class hundreds. He further said that on paper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 has got a strong and experienced batting side.
Australia has World class names in its team like Michael http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Watson-c96326, Michael Hussey and Simon Katich and if these players fire and provide solid performances during The Ashes series, then Australia would be in a strong position.
Justin Langer, who is considered as one of the best openers of Australia, further said that if the experienced Australian batting is not distracted by the hype, then they would definitely have a great summer.
