Justin Medlock stands proud as Hannah Jun climbs up the ranks
This couple really makes a good pair. While Justin Medlock has been busy hitting field goals and punts, his girlfriend, Hannah Jun has been tiring herself out with swings and drives on golf courses for the last five years.
Jun is aiming to move up the professional ladder and making her name known in Asia while Medlock is usually seen practicing with his Edmonton Eskimos teammates.
The female golfer played the Ladies European Tour a few weeks ago and displayed her fine form and figure as she earned a well deserved second place finish. The runner-up place was earned at the Suzhou Taihu Ladies Open that was
held in China, where Jun dropped from first place after a rather unfortunate playoff match. The match was against Lee-Anne Pace who won the four way event for the South Africans.
As for Medlock, he has been caddying for Jun as well. According to her boyfriend, Jun said that the biggest turn in the recent game came when she missed her five-footer that was to be played on the 18th hole.
“She said it was a hard lip out” Medlock said.
Medlock further said that Jun’s eight-footer at the playoff would probably have forced another playoff since she already had the lead. Jun and Medlock are good athletes and met at the University of California at Los Angeles.
The 25-year old’s lead at the Ladies Open had been in her hands till the 16th place and was at the top of the leader board with a total of two shots. Medlock recalled that the 16th flag stick handed a Bogey for Jun’s scorecard
and said that a good caddy at that time would probably have helped her a lot since Jun needed to be aggressive on the next holes.
According to Medlock, the current hole required only a mere par from her while the attacking strategy was better off for the next two holes.
“I think the birdie requirement forced her to play that way but it was a good finish” The Edmonton Eskimos’ player said.
With eight events she has played, Jun has collected a total of Canadian $65,000. She is thus in 45th place in the money list and grabbed the Suzhou Taihu Ladies Open as her best finish. One notch down the winning list,
Jun holds the Open de France with third position that was achieved in September.
With Jun slowly climbing the success ladder, Medlock has never been more proud of her. While talking to the media, the athlete said that all Jun now needs to do is to close the door as she has been provided with a lot of chances.
The 27 year old athlete caddied for Jun at the Futures Tour and said that he knows she’s good and she can prove it easily.
The 25 year old female golfer has been able to grab her conditional status for next year’s LPGA Tour 2011 and is playing for the full Tour card at Daytona Beach, Florida this month. The Qualifying school event is being held at
the Champions and Legends Course with Medlock as Jun’s caddie as he is well aware of the mental game.
“Golf is a game where one hole may beat you bad but the next may go easy on you provided you keep your head in the game. Kicking and golfing are that’s why rather same” Medlock said.
