Justin Morneau is OK, says Terry Ryan – MLB Minnesota Twins News
Justin Ernest George Morneau is one of the most talented individuals in Major League Baseball. Since making his MLB debut, the guy has produced some great performances. Playing as a first baseman, Morneau helped Minnesota Twins secure unforgettable wins
between 2003 and 2011.
His best season was recorded in 2006 when he won the American League Most Valuable Player award. He was also the winner of Silver Slugger award and Twins Calvin R. Griffith MVP award during that season. A few weeks ago, news surfaced that the striker playing
career might end due to serious concussions.
However, Twins’ manager Terry Ryan is very optimistic about Morneau. In an interview with a leading sports website, Ryan stated that the club will help the striker in every possible way to get him back onto the field. It will be interesting to see if Morneau
gets a chance to play first base during Spring Training.
Morneau has been practicing hard for the last few weeks. While he is not 100 per cent fit, he is looking motivated to get things back on track. In addition to his hitting skills, Morneau possesses great team work ability. Although he failed to live up to
the expectations last season, when fully fit and healthy, Morneau can be an asset to any MLB team.
"He's OK. We're monitoring him. Of course, he's not 100 percent, but he's moving that direction. He's participating, and to this point he's OK."
Ryan added: "We haven't played any games yet, but he's going through batting practice and he's going through the drills and he's going through first base, and everything that all the other guys are doing, he is as well. We're not going to let him overdo
it, there's no doubt about it. All these guys who have injury history here recently, you have to be cognizant of that, and he is as well."
His batting average of .227 with 19 walks and 30 RBI’s in 2011 is something he would like to improve on in 2012. The upcoming season will be of great importance to him. If he can recover his health, he will have a great chance to revive his career.
