Justin Morneau looking solid ahead of 2012 Spring Training – MLB News
Justin Ernest George Morneau is one of the most talented hitters in Major League Baseball right now. Since making his MLB debut with Minnesota Twins, the player has produced some magical performances for Minnesota Twins. His eight year long career with the Twins suggests that his love for the game is what motivates him to do well at the highest level.
The left handed striker has been practicing for the upcoming Spring Training for the last two weeks. Not only has he astonishing hitting abilities, the first baseman always sees room for improvement in his game play. Morneau is also very famous among the Twins’ fans. He was delighted at the reception he received from some of his fans on Tuesday afternoon at the Lee County Sports Complex.
Facing the left handed Francisco Liriano, Morneau displayed some high quality hitting skills to hit home runs during the practice session. The reaction from his fans was quite astonishing as they shouted, "Atta boy, Justin!". At the end of the training session, Morneau acknowledged the support by waving to his fans with a smirk.
"That was pretty cool," he said Wednesday. "I don't think I've ever heard that on the back fields - not in a live batting practice, that's for sure. That made me feel pretty good. I was surprised. I didn't realize there were that many people there watching."
"But to stand in there and react to a fastball - he was throwing pretty firm - I'll take the positives out of that and try to ignore the slider I missed by four feet."
Minnesota Twins will be relying heavily on Morneau this season to achieve their desired goals. With great amount of responsibility on his shoulder, the striker will be hoping to produce results consistently throughout 2012 season. He has looked in terrific form this Spring but it will be interesting to see if he can maintain this form during the 2012 regular season.
Due to various forms of injuries, Morneau played in only a handful of games in 2011 as the Twins lost 99 games during that season. He will be looking to be healthy and fit for the entire next season to help the Twins reach the playoffs.
