Justin Rose eager to make his debut at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship
Justin Rose of England has confirmed his participation in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship. The tournament is scheduled to start from January 17, 2013.
The Abu Dhabi Golf Club in Abu Dhabi, which is known as one of the premier golf clubs in the United Arab Emirates, will be the host venue for the tournament.
The world number one Rory McIlroy and the 14-time major champion Tiger Woods are the other big names who have already committed to participate in this year’s edition of the event.
According to the golf commentators, Rose is one of the strongest additions to the tournament, as he currently holds the fourth position Official World Golf Rankings.
The 2012 European Tour season witnessed him enjoying a great run of form. He managed to register nine top-10 finishes, including a victory in the World Golf Championships – Cadillac Championship.
He also stunned his opponents at the season-ending DP World Tour Championship by carding a course record 62 in the final round, which allowed him to mount a title charge on the leaderboard.
However, McIlroy also maintained consistency in his game and finished one stroke ahead of him, with a 23-under par tournament score, to take the title home. Despite failing to raise the trophy, Rose expressed his pleasure in performing well in the tournament.
In addition to his individual performances in the 2012 golf season, he also played an important role in European team’s success in the Ryder Cup.
He played a total five matches in the team event and secured three valuable points for his team. Moreover, he also outshined Phil Mickelson in Sundays Singles match, which contributed towards Europe’s biggest comeback in the history of the event.
He said, “I’ve had a good year and I’m really looking forward to the possibilities that a new one will bring,” he added. “I’ve played some of the best golf of my career this year and a good start in Abu Dhabi is an exciting opportunity to prolong the success
– it will hopefully get me in the right track to go on and potentially do some great things through next season”.
