Justin Rose eyes a Ryder Cup berth with his victory at WGC Cadillac-Championship

Justin Rose has shot back in contention, eyeing a spot in the upcoming Ryder Cup in October, scheduled to be held at the scenic Medinah Country Club in Chicago.
Landing the star-studded WGC – Cadillac Championship at Blue Monster, Doral, Rose has surged back in the top-ten on the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR) and he is now poised at number seven.
Rose clinched the title with a blistering knock on the final day and is now holding the second position on the Race to Dubai, right behind Rory McIlroy and is also in the race for the Ryder Cup selection.
This was Rose’s fifth European Tour victory in his 210 starts on the tour. He has amassed a total of €1,082,235 on the Race to Dubai Money List.
Rose is also only the third Englishman to win the WGC Cadillac-Championship following Ian Poulter (2010 WGC – Accenture Match Play Championship) and Luke Donald (2011 WGC – Accenture Match Play Championship).
Rose said, “I'm a player who balances trying to play both tours, and winning a tournament like this actually is the perfect way to compete on both tours, because it's such a great crossover now. I have the chance to compete and have a run at The Race to
Dubai now and obviously it gets you really going well in the FedExCup.  So it's an exciting win”.
Rose reached the zenith of his career when he reached the top of the European Tour players list and made his first appearance in the Ryder Cup at Valhalla the same year.
He clinched the Cadillac title last week, taking over the long-hitting Bubba Watson by one stroke.
McIlroy, currently the world number one, is enjoying the status of the best golfer in the world and is facing a stiff challenge from Luke Donald poised at number two.
Donald will need to win this week’s Transitions Championship on PGA to reclaim the throne while Lee Westwood, poised at number three, is also eager to clinch the title.
Rose turned professional in the year 1998 and has since won 11 professional titles in this short period. He joined the European Tour in the year 1999 and later joined the PGA in 2003.
He plays on both tours, crossing the Atlantic more than a dozen times in the year.
He jolted into stardom in 1998 when he posted a joint fourth in the Open Championship playing as low amateur, which also marks his highest finish in any of his major appearances.
He finished for a joint 11th in the Masters last year and posted a joint 44th in the Open Championship. He missed the cut in both US Open as well as the PGA Championship.
Rose will be least worried about the selection for the Masters next month as many of the European players will be hoping to break into top-50 on the OWGR in the coming weeks.
