Justin Rose making all the positive headlines – Tour Championship
From nowhere, Justin Rose has come to shoot some impressive rounds at the Tour Championship. Shooting two excellent rounds is not a big thing but shooting them at the Tour Championship, a week before the Ryder Cup, is a big thing.
Justin Rose shot 66 and 68 in the first and second round respectively. The Englishman is currently just a stroke behind the leader, Jim Furyk.
Rose has been on a birdie spree at East Lake. He was, at one point, leading the tournament in the first round but ended up matching Tiger Woods.
A few more low rounds and one never know we might see a surprise winner of the FedEx Cup, just like last year.
Bill Hass was ranked 25th going in to the Tour Championship last year, and Rose is ranked 24th. Is the history repeating itself? That is yet to be seen, though things are nicely shaping up for the final two days.
Rose, however, is not really happy about the fact that he scored some bogeys in the first two rounds and that has really dented him badly.
“It wasn't pretty golf by any means. It was the kind of day that I hit a lot of decent tee shots. I mean, I felt like I'm hitting the driver quite long right now, so I'm obviously swinging at it pretty well, but just missing the fairway by one or two yards.
I'm not worried about that,” said Rose while talking at the news conference.
Things should not worry Rose much, as he scored many birdies at East Lake. After all, he is just a stroke behind the leader, Furyk.
“I've been hitting the ball really, really well all year. I'm sure I'll click into a nice rhythm on the weekend and be back to normal hitting on the fairways. But I haven't been scoring like I have been. That's what I'm excited about this week,” Rose said
after his second round outing, which included five birdies and three bogeys.
Jose Maria Olazabal would be a happy man after seeing Justin’s performance. All the European Ryder Cuppers are hitting their stride at the right time.
