Justin Rose resigns from the European tour
First he was kicked out of the Ryder Cup team and now he won’t be playing for five weeks on the European Tour. What’s wrong with this guy?
Justin Rose won’t be playing on the European Tour for the next five weeks as he resigned after being left out of the Ryder Cup team. Yet he is not facing any sort of ban and will be back in 2011.
According to a record, Justin Rose appeared in only three events in the year 2010. This was the reason that he was not given the wild card from the captain, Colin Montgomerie. As for now, he has taken a break which means that he won’t be able to qualify
for the membership next season. He is midway towards the minimum requirement of 12 with two majors and a world championship in America.
Golf has its own rules and according to a statement, ‘anyone failing to participate in the minimum shall not be eligible for reinstatement to European Tour membership without the written permission of the chief executive until the lapse of 24 calendar months.’
This does not mean Justin Rose is in thick soup. Keith Waters, who is the Tour's chief operating officer told the Press Association Sport that no disciplinary action will be taken against the player. Earlier the 30-year-old player wrote on his website that
he was looking forward to get into the team of 2012. Action could have been taken against him but as he already deflated then what is the point of bugging him more.
Moreover, the 30-year-old won’t be seen at the Dubai World Championship which is taking place next week, as his name has been struck off the Race to Dubai money list. However, he will be playing in the HSBC Golf Championship series in Shanghai from November
4th -7th alongside Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson.
Waters told the press, "We've been discussing the situation with Justin for months and months as you can imagine. He started the year in a difficult position outside the world's top 50 and not qualified for the world championships or majors. It's been hard
for him to get to 12 and having played only six to this point he didn't want to play six of the next seven weeks, not least because he's had a bit of a niggling wrist injury.”
Justin might be stuck out of the Ryder Cup team but his good wishes were by their side. He recently wrote on his website that he was happy for his team on their tremendous victory.
He quoted, “They battled hard and showed tremendous passion during a testing week. I am proud of how some of my friends played out there. I am more excited than ever to get into the team for 2012 as I think the cup changing hands between the two teams in
the last few years has really been positive for this great sporting rivalry.....Well done boys!"
If these were his sentiments regarding his team then on the other side he was also disappointed over him being not able to contribute.
He wrote in his blog that he was very near to a lead at the Barclays, when his captain called him up and gave the disappointing news. After listening to it, he felt deflated but even then he tried to concentrate on his game. The results were not pleasing
as his mind was wondering somewhere else and it was unbelievable for him that he was not picked up by the captain.
Justin Rose has resigned from the European tour for five weeks as he wasn’t able to fulfill the minimum criteria of the membership. However, he will be back very soon in the HSBC Golf Championship series, Shanghai to prove the world that he was worth it.
