Justin Rose stays invincible up to the third round of BMW Championship at Cog Hill
Justin Rose has done well over the weekend so far to hold on to his lead in all the three rounds that have been played so far at the Cog Hill Golf and Country Club in the third leg of the FedExCup Playoffs, the BMW Championship. Scoring a record-leveling
eight-under, 63 on the opening day, Rose has capitalized heavily on his opening bout and pulled in two-under, 69 on the third day to stay clear of the rest of the field by four shots.
“Obviously delighted again to get it in the house under 70. I was aware today that it was a pretty tricky day and guys weren't going low. Guys played well in my group at times, but just obviously struggled to put a score on the board, and I was aware that
was the situation pretty much throughout the field,” said Rose.
The third round was played under a bright sunny day with plenty of warm breeze blowing off the course. Rose carded three birdies and dropped just one shot at par-3, 12th to stand out alone at the summit of the championship. If he goes all the
way to lifting the trophy, he would be the only player after Tiger Woods to do so after putting in a round of 63 on the first day.
After the lackluster performance of Aussies Adam Scott and Jason Day in the championship, Geoff Ogilvy and John Senden have now moved closer to the summit, with Senden finishing for an outright second while Ogilvy finishing tied for third alongside Bill
Haas.
Webb Simpson, the Greensboro and Deutsche Bank Champion posted a round of two-over, 73 on the third day to slide down to an outright fifth for the moment and are now a whooping six shots away from the leader. He will have to be in his best if he wants to
lift the title on Sunday, although with his recent wins, he is safely within the top-30 who will be moving to the final leg of the event.
PGA Championship winner, Keegan Bradley finished for an outright sixth with his third round score of one-under, 70.
