Justin Rose – the man to beat at Nedbank Golf Challenge
Nedbank Golf Challenge starts this Thursday and, with Justin Rose in hot form, he will certainly be the man to beat at the Sun City.
Lee Westwood is the two-time defending champion of the tournament, which certainly gives him an edge over the rest in the field.
However, the way Rose is playing, something special will be required to stop him from lifting the title at Gary Player Golf and Country Club.
Justin secured the second place finish at the DP World Tour Championship. However, it was not his second place finish that makes him a favourite at Sun City.
In fact, it was his record setting ten-under-par round on the final day that raised the eyebrows of many.
Rose, who will be the highest ranked golfer at the Gary Player Country Club, will certainly be hoping to finish off his season in style.
The Englishman is perfectly capable of winning the tournament. He certainly has the skills and character to shoot some extremely low rounds, as we saw in Dubai.
The world number four in the past has fended off challenges from the likes of Tiger Woods. In the recently concluded Turkish Airlines World Golf Finals, he defeated Tiger Woods convincingly.
This shows the skill and temperament of Rose, who is yet to achieve his full potential.
Nevertheless, Lee Westwood, the world number six, is certainly a man to watch out for at the Gary Player Golf and Country Club, considering the fact that he has an excellent track record in this tournament.
However, locals would be hoping for a South African victory this time around. Although Justin Rose is South African by birth, he moved to England shortly after.
One South African who seems to be in good touch is Louis Oosthuizen. Oosthuizen, too, is coming off from a good outing in Dubai.
The South African finished among the top-five at the DP World Tour Championship. Louis, who is also a major winner, knows how to win on the tour and, with loads of experience behind him, he will certainly try to close his season with a victory.
