Justin Timberlake cites boredom behind Tiger Woods slump
After all is lost, apparently, Tiger Woods was able to gather support from the famous musician-turned-actor, Justin Timberlake, who suggested that Woods might have hit the period in his profession where one gets bored of the uniqueness
and monotony. He was talking on the launch of his latest movie, while participating in Callaway Golf’s small quiz alongside.
“One of the greatest golfers of all time. I’m sure he’s getting advice from all angles. You can hit plateaus in golf. I’ve hit those plateaus in my profession, where you have to find something else to conquer,” said the bright-eyed
Timberlake in bolts of flashing cameras.
The multi-talented Timberlake has been supportive of Woods for a long time and has been among the many who have thrown weight behind the 14-major champion. The star performer knows the darker side of being famous and then losing
everything afterwards. Timberlake has achieved much in his short career, and done exceptional well in multitude of fields.
Woods, who is probably having the worst time of his life, dropped to number 12th in world rankings on Sunday May, 21st. This is the first time that the former world number one has slipped out of the Top 10
since 1997. After a disappointing season so far, woods had to make an early exit at the Players Champions last week after he suffered an aggravated knee injury. Woods has undergone several surgeries to recover from the devastating injury and was reluctant
to participate in the Players Championship. There had been rumours that Woods was convinced by the PGA Tour organizers to be part of the field, a claim that still remains controversial.
Woods' former coach Butch Harmon was one of the first ones to lament his early departure from TPC Sawgrass and referred to it as a bad omen for the player. Woods later jokingly offered to pay the media reporters $1 million on condition
of them not asking about his knee injury.
The sport’s most celebrated player has not won a title for almost two years now and has seen his career swing out of control after his extra marital affairs were made public. The Player lost many of his sponsorship contracts including
the multi-million dollar Nike deal, and is currently facing the downslide of his course design business. The Tiger Woods Inc., although acquired many course design contracts, but failed to successfully complete any one of them.
Recently, the more confidential appearance money for the player has dropped down to 67% of what he used to get some three years back. Woods demanded a hefty $3 million for participation in events anywhere in Australia or Dubai,
and JBWere Masters was one event he regularly participated in the past. The former champion is now offered a meagre $1million for a similar participation and is likely to reduce his foreign tours for the moment.
