Justin Turner’s five RBIs helps New York Mets rout Houston Astros, 7-4 – MLB News
New York Mets’ in-fielder, Justin Turner was outstanding with his bat as he went 2-for-4 and hit five RBIs in the Mets’ 7-4 victory against the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park, Houston, on May 15.
Turner expressed his excitement and said, “Any time you drive in some runs you feel pretty good. It makes it nicer to get an at bat every day and get comfortable and make adjustments from at bat to at bat as opposed to from day to three days.”
Both teams went score-less in the first inning as pitchers threw the ball on a good line and length. The Astros led-off with 1-0 during the second inning, when Chris Johnson hit a shot for an RBI and posted one run for his team. No score was added in the
third inning. Jason Michaels doubled to reach at the second base for one run and extended his team’s lead to 2-0, at the end of fourth inning.
Mets broke their silence in the fifth inning by adding four runs and went ahead with 4-2, when their first baseman Carlos Lee made an error and Jose Reyes walked on the sacrifice bunt of Chris Capuano. Josh Thole had a walk to steal the second base, while
Jason Pridie reached at the home plate in no time. Turner doubled, in that four-run campaign.
Mets’ manager, Terry Collins, was much contended with the way Turner batted throughout the game and said, “He loves to play and here's his chance. You spend a few years in the minor leagues and you've been able to play for a while and you say 'If I just
had a chance, if I just had a chance.' Well, here's his opportunity and he's making the most of it.”
Mets extended their lead by adding three runs during the sixth inning, when Turner hit a one run homer on contribution with Daniel Murphy, who doubled off the left-centre field spot. On the other hand, the Astros lessened their trail after Clint Barmes’s
home run. The score-card moved to 7-3 at the end of sixth inning.
Bill Hall scored a single run for the Astros in the eighth inning but the Mets were leading, 7-4. The ninth inning ended without any score for both teams.
