Justin Turner’s five RBIs helps New York Mets rout Houston Astros 7-4 – MLB Update
Justin Turner hit a career-high five RBIs as the New York Mets defeated Houston Astros 7-4 at Minute Maid Park, Houston on Sunday, May 15.
Sunday’s game would probably not have been as animated and exciting as it turned out had it not been for Turner. "Any time you drive in some runs you feel pretty good," Turner said. "It makes it nicer to get an at bat every day and get comfortable and make
adjustments from at bat to at bat as opposed to from day to three days."
It was Chris Johnson who actually got the first lead for the Astros in the game when Chris Capuano was pitching for New York in the second inning. Johnson singled to shallow centre to give his team an early 1-0 lead. Capuano gave up two more hits and allowed
another run in the fourth inning when Jason Michaels scored the second run for Houston.
This is when Turner entered the game. The young player put on display his incredibly amazing talent. Turner scored a tremendous two-run homer to tie the score 2-2. However, a lot was to come yet for the Mets. Jason Pridie managed to score the third run for
his team following David Wright who took the score to 4-2 for New York.
Aneury Rodriguez, who gave four runs in the fifth inning, gave up three more in the sixth inning, bringing despair in the Astros’ camp. However, it would not have happened had it not been for Turner who turned the tide against Houston.
Turner struck an awe-inspiring hit that earned him a three-run homer in the sixth inning. This also gave him his fifth run of the inning, the highest of his career in any game and the seventh run for New York. The score was adequate enough to be comfortably
defended. That is what the Mets’ pitchers intended to do.
Astros’ Clint Barmes brilliantly homered to left to score the third run for Houston in the sixth inning. Matt Downs went for his fourth run in the eighth inning following Francisco Rodriguez who was called in for pitching in the ninth inning.
Maintaining the 7-4 lead, the Mets’ pitcher, Rodriguez pitched a shut-out ninth inning to easily pave the way for a 7-4 victory for New York against the Astros.
