Justin Upton might play in Arizona Diamondbacks next season, indicates owner Ken Kendrick
No one knows yet where Justin Upton will be playing next season. His performance in 2012 Major League Baseball impressed many while now right fielder is getting much attention with his free agency as well.
Having five years of big league’s experience, Upton has not decided yet regarding his future despite many teams have showed interest signing him.
Now sources are speculating in the media that Upton might play again for the Arizona Diamondbacks. However, no confirm source has verified this news.
Another source has indicated that Arizona owner Ken Kendrick is thinking positively to include Upton for his team’s next season roster.
"I'm a big Justin fan, He was drafted 1-1, and the fan expectation was so extraordinary. I think the fan base has seen flashes of an extraordinary talent. Justin's still young. All of us as young people aren't as consistent with what we do until we become a little more mature. Justin suffers from very high expectations. But he's had extraordinary success. And I think he has a lot more to contribute,” Diamondbacks’ owner said.
GM Kevin Towers is also hopeful that the management will consider Upton’s free agency. "Kevin is Kevin. I think there is no one on the roster Kevin wouldn't have a discussion about, if asked,” Kendrick said about Towers.
Upton played past season with great energy. He showed his true game and proved his talent with great power. Upton hit with an average of .280 last MLB season while he smashed 17 homers, 67 RBIs and .355 OBP.
His career hitting average is also consistent at .278, 108 home-runs, 363 RBIs and .357 OBP. Many believe that Upton is a good player and Diamondbacks will consider him giving a good and lucrative deal.
Upton and his agent on the other hand, are still looking for a good deal with some of the leading teams in the Major League. Next few weeks will be critical when Upton and his new potential team will be revealed in the media as chances are high that Diamondbacks might give him another chance to feature in the next season.
