Justin Upton’s triple RBIs help Arizona Diamondbacks humiliate Colorado Rockies 7-0 – MLB Update
Arizona Diamondbacks’ right-fielder, Justin Upton had a notable day with the bat as he hit three RBIs with an average of .301 and went 4-for-4 in the Diamondbacks’ 7-0 victory against the Colorado Rockies at Chase Field, Arizona on July 24.
In the first two innings, the batters got out without adding some runs to their team’s score-cards. Jonathan Herrera singled towards left-field but Dexter Fowler was struck-out swinging and Todd Helton got out to second base at the top of the first inning.
Similarly, the Diamondbacks’ batters looked powerless as Miguel Montero was grounded out to pitcher and Geoff Blum struck-out looking during the second inning.
The Diamondbacks posted two runs at the bottom of the third inning and got a 2-0 lead. Willie Bloomquist and Xavier Nady both added two runs jointly when Upton drove a double-run shot towards deep right-field. In the fourth inning, Micah Owings singled to
centre-field and Montero added a single run to take the Diamondbacks’ lead 3-0.
During the fifth inning, the Diamondbacks’ batters advanced their lead 5-0 by blasting two quick runs to their score-card. Upton tripled towards right-field and Nady posted one run. The second run was taken by Upton when Sean Burroughs hit a grounder towards
second base.
Upton said, “There's a lot that goes in to baseball. You have your good times and you have your bad times. That's just the way the game goes. I've been able to stay positive, and see the ball and hit the ball.”
The Diamondbacks’ batters continued to raise their team’s lead as they exploded two runs in the sixth inning to take a 7-0 lead. Chris Young singled to left-field and Nady posted a single run. The final run of the game was taken by Upton when Montero hit
a grounder towards second base.
In the last three innings, the pitchers controlled the scoring shots by throwing the ball in good line. Fowler singled to centre-field but Ian Stewart flied out to centre-field and Herrera got out to second base, at the top of the eighth inning.
The Rockies missed the scoring runs in the ninth inning as Helton lined out to centre-field and Troy Tulowitzki grounded out to second base. With this comfortable victory, the Diamondbacks were able to snatch the three-game series 2-1, played at Chase Field.
