Justin Verlander’s dominance in baseball, inspiring the masses – MLB Special
Winning the Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award is certainly a big achievement for any professional baseball player and this year Justin Verlander proved that he was the best among the entire league during the 2011 season.
He won two major awards, the Cy Young and AL MVP this year and instantly achieved the heights of popularity in the American media.
Looking into Verlander’s performance from start of the season to the last game he played against the Texas Rangers, everyone will recognise the same level of consistency. Verlander not only performed wonderfully in the last regular season, but his brilliant
performances also led the Tigers into the post-season where they won the Division Title beating the New York Yankees in a thrilling encounter that eventually laid the foundation of another exciting match-up against the Texas Rangers in the American League
Championship Series.
Going into the 2011 season and coming out with a defeat in the ALCS is itself a big achievement for a team that initially never considered a title contending team but one man’s determination and commitment to the game was the reason why the Tigers made it
that far.
It was a bad feeling when the Tigers lost the ultimate battle in the ALCS but Verlander’s performance was certainly appreciative in every sense.
Later, when he won the Cy Young Award for his extraordinary performance, his chances became brighter to win the American League Most Valuable Player (MVP) Award and he finally got the MVP recognition.
With all these awards and recognition, now many of his league mates are appreciating his star calibre and stating officially that he truly deserves to be MVP.
Recently, American League MVP Ryan Braun has commented in the media and appreciated Verlander’s extraordinary baseball talent and said, “I think he was the single most dominant player in baseball this year, as a position player, I'm biased that I think position
players should be at the forefront of that award (the MVP). But if you honestly look at what he accomplished and how much he meant to that team and how dominant he truly was, you cannot make any argument against him winning that award.”
Many other MLB players are also appreciating his dominance on the baseball field this year and stating his future will bring more success. Verlander, on the other hand, receiving these appreciations with a big heart and paying his regards to all those who
think he deserved this MVP recognition.
Despite many other MLB players also showed some very inspiring performances all season long but Verlander’s performance, his overall ERA average and total strike-outs placed him so much higher in comparison to all those average performers that even these
players recognise it. Apart from losing the ALCS to the Texas Rangers, Verlander himself is very happy from the entire 2011 campaign.
However, it will be interesting to see how Verlander is heading into the new season where every team will try hard to outdo their opponents. One thing for sure is that the competition is fierce and there are many highly talented players in the league all
looking to get into the limelight and win awards for their performances.
