Justine Henin-Hardenne ruled out from U.S. Open 2010
The world of tennis is going through a tough time in 2010. News about the injury of world number one Serena Williams is still fresh in the minds of many but it is the time for another tennis starlet to withdraw from the upcoming U.S. Open in New York. She is the former world number one from Belgium, Justin Henin-Hardenne who has moved herself out of the players list for 2010. Justin, who has already won 43 titles, has been suffering from an elbow injury.
After getting back to the tennis court after many years, she was not feeling fit to play as the long absence from international tennis dragged her out of the form. Hennin, who is ranked 13th by the Women Tennis Association (WTA), is still far away from regaining her previous prime. She lined herself out of the U.S. Open because of her elbow injury. It comes as bad news for Hennin as well as for her fans that were waiting for some exciting matches in the U.S. Open.
The U.S. Open 2010 is expected to be little less exciting as the top players are unable to participate due to injury problems. Hennin has also missed her best of Belgian clash against archrival Kim Clijsters in Brussels on the 8th of July. She is no doubt facing the worst time of her international tennis career. Getting back to the tennis world after 18 months of retirement was a brave decision and it proved to be a difficult pill to swallow. She faced an injury in the fourth round match against Clijsters in the Wimbledon Championships 2010 as well. Henin was injured in the first set of the match but she fought bravely and played the match up to three sets. Later, she confirmed the news about her injury on her personal web page. She informed that due to her uncomfortable fall in a Wimbledon match against Clijsters, she is not feeling fit to play as her right elbow has got a partial fracture. She underwent different medical examinations and it has proved that the fracture will take some time to cure. She expressed her disappointment about not playing in the battle of the Belgian contest and the coming grand slam in America. Later, she added that she will miss the U.S. Open because of the injury and she has nothing to do except enjoy the tournament as a spectator. She said it is a span of discouragement for her as she is eager to get back to her game as soon as possible but she is not finding an easy way.
Hennin wishes to play professional competitive tennis till the year 2012 and fight for a Olympics title in London 2012. She has already won a gold medal in the Olympic tennis event and she is eager to grab another one as there is nothing bigger than a gold medal for any athlete. She claims that her main inspiration for getting back to the tennis court is Roger Federer.
It will take her two months to get to full fitness. No doubt Justin Hennin has the capacity to perform at any stage effectively and efficiently but she will have to wait for the right time as a strong comeback needs a stronger start with complete fitness.
