The Chief Executive Officer of the Bianconeri outfit has gone on to comment on the case that has implicated Antonio Conte and the Juventus football club in 2006.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 was rocked by the betting scandal that took place in the Serie A, with allegations levied against many top clubs of Italian football. Many of the allegations against the clubs revolved around the clubs appointing their choice of referees in the matches.
The teams that were implicated in this betting syndicate were AC Milan, Juventus FC, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775, Reggina and Fiorentina.
Telephonic conversations between the above stated clubs were recorded, which strengthened the case against the accused clubs. The punishments that were levied against the clubs initially saw the clubs demoted to the Serie C1 and Serie B. The culprit or the
ring leader of sorts of this episode was deemed to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luciano-c22574 Moggi of Juventus, who was a director at the club in 2006. He was sentenced to a life ban.
However, after an appeal, Juventus were able to reduce their sentence, and their final hearing saw their punishment cut down to the Serie B and a deduction of points. Juventus were stripped off the Scudetto they had won in 2005 and 2006.
However, Andrea Agnelli has gone on to remark that the Bianconeri outfit were wrongfully implicated in the case, and also remarked that the situation was down to speculation. He further remarked on the lack of evidence that was present against them and remarked
that it was unfair treatment. Citing his disappointment at the whole episode that seems to have tarnished the reputation of the Turin outfit, Agnelli went on to comment:
“The conclusion was that if you behave in an anti-sporting manner three times, then it counts as sporting fraud, but there was no proof. It was all speculation. There is a court of justice that ruled the 2005-06 season was not influenced in any way and another
court ruled that the previous season was never under investigation.”
The Juve patron also remarked on the Scommessopoli controversy that has seen the head coach of the Juventus outfit to be banned for a period of four months.
