Juventus FC goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon keen to stay with the Turin giants – Serie A news
Veteran Juventus goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gianluigi-Buffon-c14833 has once again expressed his desire to stay at the Turin giants despite all the speculations regarding his exit.
The fellow Serie A outfit, AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 are reckoned to be the possible new outfit for the shotstopper and a summer transfer deal has been reported.
Reports from Italy revealed that if the Old Lady do not qualify for the UEFA Champions League for the upcoming 2011-12 season, Buffon will be sold to invest the money in the summer transfer market in search of constructing a new team with quality players.
Buffon’s contract with the Lady Killers expires in 2013 and after spending a decade serving the Old Lady in 286 appearances, the goalkeeper is looking forward to retire at the outfit.
The Italy international shotstopper while talking to the media said, “I am not thinking about leaving Juventus because the principal thing this year was for me to return to being healthy and to get back my match rhythm. I have a contract with Juventus until
2013 and nothing is making me think about anything else. I would still like to win with Juventus' shirt. I hope that this is possible.”
Buffon also supports the team’s head coach Luigi Delneri who has been criticised through most of the ongoing 2010-11 season. Juve were held back to a draw by Catania recently at home as the game ended 2-2. The loss to a low runner has left Delneri condemned
again for being the main reason of the team’s inconsistency.
The legendary goalkeeper said that it was not always the coach’s fault and in fact, they end up paying the bigger price. Delneri’s name is in the list of replacements that are to be made at the end of the current term. However, Buffon believes that the coach
is not the one to be blamed for the lagging and the players have been at a bigger fault.
Juve are currently on the 7th spot in the Serie A rankings and have thin chances of making it to the UEFA Champions League next season, being 7 points adrift of their target.
