Juventus Set to Sign Winger Milos Krasic
Serie A giants Juventus are said to be on the verge of securing the signature of Milos Krasic from Russian Premier League (RPL) side CSKA Moscow.
Italian newspaper Il Corriere dello Sport has reported that Juve’s general director Giuseppe Marotta is in the process of finalizing a deal for the Serbian international. Juve were said to have been on the verge of signing Bosnian Edin Dzeko, but the striker proved to be too expensive for the Italians after the player’s club Wolfsburg put a price tag of 40 million euros on his head.
Cheaper option
Krasic, therefore, was seen as a cheaper option to help in their squad overhaul. A transfer fee of 15 million euros has been agreed with CSKA and Marotta is expected to complete the fine details of the move in Moscow. Juve are said to be hoping the transfer will be complete before they play their UEFA Europa League tie against Austrian outfit Strum Graz.
Krasic is renowned for his pace and strong dribbling skills and could be an important asset for Juve as they seek to reclaim the Serie A title.
The 25-year-old started his career with his hometown club FK Rudar Kosovska Mitrovica. After progressing through the youth ranks, his talents were spotted by FK Vojvodina at a young age and they snapped up the winger in 1999. In his four-and-a-half years with the Serbian club, he made 77 appearances and scored seven goals, while he was also named team captain. His good form there attracted the attention of CSKA, who signed the player in January 2004.
In the 2004-05 season, Krasic featured three times in the UEFA Cup, including an appearance as a substitute in the final, as the team went on to win the trophy. He also played a big part in CSKA’s Russian league wins in 2005 and 2006. In total, he has made 225 appearances for the club and has scored 25 goals.
