Juventus FC are keen to hold onto the loaned central midfielder, Alberto Aquilani, but the Old Lady is being forced into letting go of the player. The decision regarding Aquilani’s future has been pending for weeks now as Aquilani’s parent club, Liverpool
FC, have been demanding more than Juve can afford to pay.
According to reports from Italy, the €16 million-rated midfielder would be returning to the English outfit for the next season, and Juve would be exercising their money on other options in the summer transfer market. Juve were keen to offer €12 million to
make the transfer permanent, but the Reds have stood by their demands despite Aquilani’s wish to stay with the Turin giants.
Alberto Aquilani came to the Stadio Olimpico Torino at the start of the 2010/11 season and the two clubs agreed to a permanent move at the end of the season. The holding midfielder continued to impress the Lady Killers by making an impact in the midfield,
prompting La Vecchia Signora to go for a permanent transfer last month.
The Reds’ manager wants Aquilani back at Anfield, despite Aquilani’s reluctance to move back to English Premier League. Liverpool’s unwillingness to negotiate has left Juventus with no choice but to pursue other options.
The Juve general manager, Beppe Marotta, revealed recently that they will be giving high priority to Olympique Lyon’s Michel Bastos – the Brazilian International is rated at €20 million. The player is also keen on moving to Italy and is looking forward to
a positive outcome to the discussions between the two clubs.
After failing to acquire Edin Dzeko in the January transfer window, Juventus are keen on adding the Bosnian forward to their line-up. The price tag of the ‘Bosnian Diamond’ would be a concern for the Old Lady; the 25-year-old is valued at €25 million. Juventus
are short on funds ahead of the new season and they need to invest shrewdly in the squad for improved results next season.
