Mircea Lucescu, head coach of Shakhtar Donetsk, has gone on to comment on their match against Juventus and did not hold back from taking a swipe at the Turin outfit.
Shakhtar had qualified for the next round of the Champions League, so the match was a dead rubber one on their front; however, the Bianconeri outfit had to make sure that they did not lose in the match against the Donbass outfit. Typically, one would have
expected any side in the predicament that Juventus were in to perform extremely defensively and make sure that they did not lose; even if it meant “parking the bus” in front of the opposition.
Italian outfits are known for their resolute defending and they would have been forgiven to have fallen into that trap as well, but it seems like the head coach of the Turin outfit, Antonio Conte, had entirely different plans for the evening. This had taken
the opposition by surprise and one has to say that the Turin giants did not give the opposition much chance.
Lucescu commented on the game afterwards and remarked that the Bianconeri outfit played a splendid game, one in which they performed to the best of their abilities and proved to be tough to beat. However, he stated that the goal scored by the Turin giants
should have been given offside. The head coach of the Ukrainian outfit remarked on the match and stated that Juve do get the benefit of being a European powerhouse, while referring to the decision to award the goal.
This was a very controversial thing to state and it would spark a retort from Turin as well, Lucescu rued the absence of Luiz Adriano in his squad, and remarked:
“Juventus played a good game, prepared well, were aggressive and won the midfield battles, then took advantage of a refereeing error. In my view, the goal was offside. To reach a certain level, you need to have talent and history, but also a certain political
strength in football. I thought a draw would’ve been the right result and we really missed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Adriano-c3773 does, particularly when helping out in midfield.”
Juventus topped the group courtesy of their victory over Shakhtar.
