Juventus goalkeeper Marco Storari questions manager Luigi Delneri
In the wake of Juventus FC’s 0-2 victory over AS Roma at Stadio Olimpico in Rome, the Bianconeri goalkeeper, Marco Storari has questioned manager Luigi Delneri and his selection policies; Delneri continues to choose Buffon ahead of the former Milan custodian. The 34-year-old made some crucial saves for La Vecchia Signora as his side won a crucial encounter against the Lupi. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Gianluigi-Buffon-c14833 missed the game due to an injury and Storari stepped up impressively to replace the Italian international.
While talking to the media, Storari said, “only a blind person can’t see what I am doing and I hope the Coach is not blind.”
It has further been reported that Juventus may decide on offloading Storari to Roma instead of Buffon. While talking about this particular move, Storari said that although he is a big Roma fan, he is happy with Juventus and wants to earn his place in Turin.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marco-Storari-c23751 joined Juventus from Sampdoria as the club needed a replacement for the injured Buffon. The former Milan shot-stopper did well in Buffon's absence in the first half of the season but lost the ‘first-choice role’ after Buffon returned from injury at the start of 2011.
Delneri was told about Storari’s statement but the Juve manager said that Gigi Buffon was at another level – in other words, showing that Buffon would always be first choice at Juventus. In response to Storari’s comments, the Italian tactician said that he was not blind , “Storari has a champion in front of him in Buffon.” Delneri said that he is thankful for what Marco Storari did against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roma-c31603 and hoped that the former Sampdoria shot-stopper stays with Juventus even if he is not in the first team.
Buffon had recently been linked with a move away from Turin. In the wake of the club’s 2-0 win over Roma, club director Giuseppe Marotta made it clear that Buffon would be staying with the Old Lady. However, it seems that if Juventus fail to make it to Europe for next season, Buffon may choose to leave the club. The Italian International has been linked with moves to Arsenal and AS Roma in recent times.
Storari, on the other hand, has expressed his desire to stay at the club but his future at the club largely depends on Buffon’s future. If Buffon decides to leave the club this summer, it is likely that Storari will stay but if no move materializes (for Buffon), Storari may be forced to find another club where he can play regular football. Since signing for Juventus last summer, the 34-year-old has made 12 league appearances but has been a safe hand for Luigi Delneri.
