Fredy Guarin’s agent has revealed that his client has had talks with Juventus but a move is still far from done as the Italian side have yet to speak to FC Porto.
Colombian International, Fredy Guarin, was amongst the key factors in the Portistas’ quadruple winning season. The midfielder was a first-choice starter under Andre Villas-Boas and appeared in nearly 40 games during the 2010/2011 campaign.
However under the tutelage of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Belluschi-c13628 and Steven Defour in the centre of the park alongside Joao Moutinho.
Despite being a regular at International level with the Coffee Growers, Guarin has failed to cement his place in the team this term and has been peripherally used.
As he is unwanted at Estadio do Dragao, the player has been linked with a host of top European sides but the majority of interest has been generated from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926.
AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniele-De-Rossi-c10112, who is reported to be on his way out of the club.
However according to the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186.
Juventus are the other interested party and have gained an upper hand on their arch-rivals by having negotiations with Guarin.
However according the midfielder’s representative, although they had engaged in talks with the Bianconeri, it did not mean that a transfer was imminent; instead they had only registered their interest.
"There are only preliminary negotiations with Juventus. Nothing official, we are just at the stage of exchanging information.”
He also added that a move could not materialize right now, as Juve had only talked to the player and had not started any discussions with the Dragons, which made it quite hard for a switch to go through this winter.
“At the moment they have spoken only with us and not with the club, [so] it’s hard to say if Guarin could move in January,” http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Marcelo-c23554 Ferreyra was quoted as saying.
With Juventus looking to maintain their title challenge against AC Milan, the Old Lady will have to bolster their squad, as the likes of Andrea Pirlo and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alessandro-Del-Piero-c4726 cannot play every game, week-in, week-out.
Fredy Guarin seems to be their preferred choice but in order to lure the Colombian to Italy; they will first have to convince FC Porto to let their prized asset go.
The Portuguese outfit have placed an €13 million price-tag on the player’s services and it remains to be seen whether they agree on Juventus’ €11 million proposal.
