Juventus interested in Ajax sensation Luis Suarez
The young Uruguayan sensation, Luis Suarez has been dazzling the Dutch Eredivisie enthusiasts with his dazzling performances for the last couple of seasons. The striker has European heavy weights running on his heels following his impressive outings at the
recently concluded 2010 FIFA World Cup. Uruguay, led by Diego Forlan and Suarez had made it to the semi-finals then.
Latest media reports from Italy claim that Juventus have shown concrete interest in signing the goal machine. They had earlier publicly courted the signature of Edin Dzeko but the Wolfsburg declared their forward un-sellable. The Bosnian international was
a constant transfer speculation but Juventus couldn’t muster the 40 million Euros which was the asking price set for Dzeko.
The club was then forced to sign Fabio Quagliarella but its hierarchy isn’t satisfied with the Napolitan’s performance. Juventus also have Amauri and Iaquinta as central strikers but their performances also haven’t been Champions League worthy. The club
now believes that they need a world class striker to make it to the next level.
It is believed that Giuseppe Marrota, Juventus’ technical director is currently monitoring the situation regarding Suarez. Reports further suggest that Bianconeri can go for the striker’s signature as early as in the January transfer market. But, Juventus
are expected to face stiff competition from Manchester United and Chelsea as both Alex Ferguson and Carlo Ancelotti are also the admirers of this forward’s talent.
Luis Suarez arrived at Ajax following his move from Groningen in 2007. The prodigious forward has been simply breathtaking and taken prolificacy to a whole new level with 80 league goals in just 100 appearances. At just 23, this explosive finisher has already
mustered 36 international caps.
His contract with Ajax runs till summer 2013. Juventus might get his signature in the region of 30 million Euros. Ajax are currently playing in the UEFA Champions’ League 2010-11 group stages and if the capital club progresses further in to the competition,
Juventus might not get their man as Suarez’s departure would deal a massive blow to Ajax’s future ambitions. Suarez presently dons the captain’s arm band at the Amsterdam based club.
