Juventus keeper ready to fend off Manchester City
Juventus goalkeeper Marco Storari revealed that he is ready to fend off the potent attacking force of English Premier League big-spenders Manchester City when the sides clash in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday night.
City is at the top of their group after picking up three points in a 2-0 win over Red Bull Salzburg. Juventus, meanwhile, could only manage a draw against Polish outfit Lech Poznan. The Serie A giants are out to atone for dropping points in a 3-3 stalemate.
Storari told Italian newspaper Tuttosport that he was ready to try and put a halt to City’s formidable attack, which features the likes of Argentina international (and club captain) Carlos Tevez, Togolese hitman Emmanuel Adebayor, FIFA 2010 World
Cup winner David Silva and England winger Adam Johnson.
The goalkeeper said, “Manchester City spent a lot in the summer to win. We know that we have conceded plenty recently and we have to improve in defence. We need to find the right balance on the pitch and we are working to follow the teachings of coach Luigi
Del Neri.”
The 33-year-old shot-stopper, who only arrived at Juventus this summer from AC Milan for a fee of 4.5 million Euros, added that Juve had an important week ahead of them. After the City game, they will take on defending Serie A champions and European Cup
holders, Inter Milan, in the league on Sunday.
“We have a very busy week ahead of us, but we must avoid thinking about the Inter game, as we have an important match in Manchester. We want to get to the final of the Europa League as we want to do really well in this competition."
