Juventus lodge 444 million Euros claim against Italian Football Federation (FIGC) for mistreatment
Italian Serie A giants Juventus have registered a claim of 444 million Euros against the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) in a local court in the aftermath of the 2006 Calciopoli scandal.
According to reports from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926, Juve claimed the amount stating that they were mistreated by the FIGC over the match-fixing scandal.
Juve were stripped off two Serie A titles after being charged guilty of match fixing in 2006, which were given to Inter Milan. Moreover, the Old Lady were relegated down to the second division, Serie B.
They recovered from the demotion in their very first season in the 2nd division and returned to the top flight, but have failed to regain consistency ever since.
Other teams involved in the Calciopoli also faced penalties. AC Milan, Fiorentina, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lazio-c39775 and Reggina were punished by point deduction and home games with no audience.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan, on the other hand, were not charged of any penalties and escaped luckily.
The Lady Killers have now claimed 444 million Euros in a court in Latium as reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport. Many think of the claim to be absurd as it is believed that the FIGC itself suffered the most due to Calciopoli scandal.
The FIGC President, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Giancarlo-c14806 Abete, responded to the claim hosted by Juve and while talking to SkySport said:
"The Federation was chief among those damaged by Calciopoli. Even in the sentencing by the court in Naples the judges rejected every accusation against the Federation."
Juve have been making efforts to revoke their two lost Serie A titles of 2005 and 2006. The Lady Killers recently filed a case in the Italian Court of Arbitration for Sport. Moreover, La Vecchia Signora also filed their case in European football governing
body UEFA. However, all the petitions have been a rejected so far but Juve are not ready to give up.
The Turin giants have suffered a great downfall due to Calciopoli and it was until the ongoing 2011/12 season. After finishing 7th in the league for two consecutive seasons, Juve have finally made a great start to the ongoing term and are being
considered as Scudetto contenders.
