Juventus looked in at Paris Saint-Germain star Nene this summer – Ligue 1 news
According to reports in French media, Italian Serie A giants Juventus approached Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain over the availability of Brazilian winger Nene.
Nene was linked with a move away from the Parc des Princes this summer after PSG brought the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jeremy-Menez-c18345 to the Ile province.
“Nene works differently than the others. He is more concerned with the defensive work which is very interesting,” observed Paris Saint-Germain coach Antoine Kombouare after his side’s 2-0 win over Dijon in Week 11 of the 2011/2012 Ligue 1 action.
Nene scored two great goals in the game to keep intact PSG’s lead at the top of the Ligue 1 standings. His latest performance was definitely a welcoming display after the Brazilian was criticised a lot for focusing more on the defence rather than helping
the attack.
However, Nene has seemingly adapted well to the new system incorporated by Kombouare and has flourished. With already four goals and two assists in ten games, Nene is proving to be an integral part of Les Galactiques de Paris.
Reports in French media now suggest that Italian Serie A giants Juventus did consider signing Nene from the capital club this summer. According to L’Equipe, PSG welcomed offers for the playmaker this summer and a lot of offers did come.
Juventus was one of those club that approached Paris Saint-Germain about the availability of Nene. However, PSG coach Antoine Kombouare had a lot of confidence in the abilities of the former Alaves winger and insisted on keeping Nene at the Parc des Princes.
“He is physically and mentally committed to the club and I never had a problem with him. He is happy to play among good players and has not yet shown signs of falling off the pace,” said Nene’s agent Christopher Monger while talking to L’Equipe.
Nene’s current deal expires in June 2013 and reports suggest that Paris Saint-Germain are considering extending the Brazilian’s contract at the club by the end of this campaign. Tying down a player of Nene’s class to a long-term contract would certainly
be a good decision made by the PSG board as they will definitely benefit a lot form the services of a player who is surely at the peak of his career at this time.
