Juventus looking to out-bid Manchester United in signing Ryan Shawcross

Juventus have managed to emerge as the shock suitors for Stoke City's captain Ryan Shawcross. This is of course if the rumors that are flying in from Italy are anything to be relied upon.
It has been reported that The Old Lady of Italian football, is looking to offer as much as twenty million pounds to land the defender in a move that could potentially go down as the most shockingly bizarre in recent history.
Shawcross is currently under contract with Stoke until the summers of 2014 and that is the reason that Juventus are looking to offer such a huge fee for the player. However there happens to be a number of teams that are standing in Juventus' way to landing
the player, those teams are; Wolfsburg, Liverpool and Manchester United.
Apart from Juventus, the only team that have appeared to actually make a move for the player are Manchester United. The team is reported to make a seventeen million player-plus-cash offer for Shawcross, which on the long runs turns out to be of a greater
value than Juve's offer.
Most experts are left baffled by the sudden demand for Shawcross. The player might be decent, but he has not really won any major awards and isn't even a part of the English national side on a regular basis and as a result the fact that he is being valued
at around twenty million pounds by the various clubs is rather weird to say the least.
However on the plus side, what Shawcross does have going for him is the fact that he is still only 23-years-old and has managed to impress enough at Stoke to be made captain. What that tells us is that there is definitely great potential in the player and
perhaps a move to a bigger club might help the player tap into that potential and become the next John Terry for England.
That being said, it is now a wait till the January transfer windows, to see what team ends up actually making the formal move for the player.
