Juventus may not use the option of buying Alberto Aquilani
Juventus might not use the option of sealing a permanent deal for Italy international http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alberto-Aquilani-c4313.
Aquilani joined the Turin giants in the ongoing 2010-11 season from the Premier League side Liverpool on a season-long loan but it seems very unlikely that Juventus would look to sign the player on a permanent basis.
According to former Director of Sport at Juventus Alessio Secco, Aquilani has not done a lot to justify or win a permanent deal in Italy. It is believed that Juventus will have to pay Liverpool 16 million Euros in order to sign the central midfielder on
a permanent basis. It was former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 manager Roy Hodgson who sent Aquilani on loan to Turin as he deemed him surplus to his requirements at Anfield.
While talking to a Turin radio station, Secco said that Juventus would be more interested in signing striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabio-Quagliarella-c13194 permanently given his current form and considering Aquilani’s injury problems.
“In my opinion, aside from the injury he suffered, Juventus will opt to sign Fabio Quagliarella from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003,” said Secco.
He said that Quagliarella will be a more important target for Juventus as his absence has cost Juventus a lot.
“Instead, I think it'll be hard to see Juventus sign Aquilani. The player hasn't given the quality necessary to help the Bianconeri make that jump in class,” he added.
Recently, Juventus lost 2-0 to Lecce and Aquilani’s performance did not really help ease the pressure on boss Luigi Delneri.
Moreover, a 16-million-Euro tag seems too hefty and over-exaggerated for a player who has not played as well as was expected. Secco was also sceptical on the appointment of Delneri and said that although the former Sampdoria coach is a very good professional,
he would never have hired him.
