It has been a season long battle for the Scudetto and an absolute delight for the football fans who have been following the Serie A, it could not get any better.
Juventus have had a phenomenal season so far, having stayed unbeaten in the Serie A. They are through to the Coppa Italia finals, having defeated AC Milan at the San Siro in the first-leg of the semi-final,
and drawn at the Juventus Stadium. Compared this with last season, where Juventus finished seventh in the Serie A standings, the progress taken by Antonio Conte’s men would have seemed like a dream too good to be true for them.
Even though Juventus have had a dip in form, having drawn four of their last five matches in the league, there is still enough about the Turin side to leave the Milan faithful worried. In an interview, Conte
was quizzed whether he was disappointed by the string of results that Juventus has produced of late. The Italian brushed of any such thoughts, stating:
“My question is this – why should I get depressed for an extraordinary League campaign that we are producing?”
Milan have lost a total of four times this season, however, despite that statistic they still are four points ahead of the Bianconeri and this is the statistic which has made the difference for Milan. Juventus
have drawn far too many matches during the course of the season to cement their place at the summit of the Serie A.
To be fair to Antonio Conte nobody were expecting Juventus to challenge for the Scudetto at the start of the season. Had one given the option of being in the Scudetto race 28 weeks into the Serie A season,
the Old Lady fans would gladly have accepted such an outcome.
However, one problem that Conte has faced throughout the season has been their inability to score in recent matches, which was the cause of their streak of draws in recent times. However, Conte’s men came
back with a bang against Fiorentina, scoring five goals and the goals came from various people rather than a solitary source.
This has also been cited as a problem for the Turin giants, when they are performing well they are world class, but they do not possess players who can turn around games like Milan do. The Diavolo have Zlatan
Ibrahimovic in their ranks who has the potential to turn games around at will. He has scored 20 goals this season, and is the current top scorer of the Serie A.
Ibra’s stats when compared to Juventus top scorer are phenomenal. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alessandro-Matri-c4733 is their top scorer at the club with 10 goals to his name in the Serie A this season, and this reflects the superiority of
Milan in attack.
The San Siro outfit have found momentum and even though they lost out to Juventus in the quest of the final of Coppa Italia, Milan’s squad seem to be superior to that of the Lady Killers.
Juventus are without their preferred defensive duo of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Andrea-Barzagli-c5669 who are due to muscle injuries. Even though they would be making a speedy recovery back in the team, their absence
has led to the Juve defence leaking goals on a few occasions.
The Giuseppe Meazza outfit are on top of the Serie A standings and if they are able to maintain their strong run for another month and a half, they would be able to lift the Scudetto by the end of the season.
