Juventus striker http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alessandro-Matri-c4733 believes Delneri not to be blamed for bad term – Serie A Update
The season has been disappointing for Juventus FC, but striker Alessandro Matri believes that the blame cannot be solely placed on head coach Luigi Delneri. The forward believes that the team should also be held responsible for a disappointing season. The
hitman believes that the coach has done a great job this season and has been a great source of inspiration for him throughout the campaign.
Matri was attending the San Siro Gentleman Awards 2011 and while talking to the media personnel on the sidelines, he said:
"I chose Del Blacks and that is because he gave me confidence. I know the coach and the person who he is, I am defending, the faults are not of the coach, but everyone chooses to blame him because it is easier to blame one instead of all.”
Matri believes that the Old Lady had their targets in sight and they were focused on achieving them, but the results did not meet expectations, leading to a disappointing end to the season.
“The goals we had set ourselves have not arrived, the disappointment of the fans is normal that there is.”
The Old Lady were keen on acquiring the UEFA Champions League spot for the upcoming 2011/12 season but lacked consistency in their performances; the team now faces an uphill task even qualifying for UEFA Europa League.
The striker believes that his team can easily make it to the Europa League if they stay focused on the job at hand. Matri claims that the team’s failures are inexplicable, as his teammates try to give their best every time they take to the pitch.
The Bianconeri currently occupy the 7th spot in the league, 3 points behind AS http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Napoli-c40003 at Stadio Olimpico
