Juventus to sign Edin Dzeko in June
According to the latest media reports coming out of Italy, Juventus are set to sing VFL Wolfsburg hit man Edin Dzeko in June of 2011. The player has made no secret of his desire to join the Turin giants. Juventus was hot on the trail of Bosnian ace this
summer but a move failed to materialize. Wolfsburg asking price of 40 million Euros was too much for the Bianconeri hierarchy.
Edin Dzeko has been a man in demand for the last two seasons. Wolfsburg bought the highly rated striker from Czech club FK Teplice in 2007 for a meagre 4 million Euros. The striker aroused the interest of Serie A giants AC Milan in 2009 but Die Wölfe played
hard ball on the negotiation table. AC Milan was reportedly offering 25 million Euros; 15 million off the asking price Wolfsburg directors had set for him.
Following AC Milan’s capture of Zlatan Ibrahimovic this summer, Rossoneri have lost interest in the Bosnian, this leaving Bianconeri the clear favourites for his signature. Dzeko has scored 53 goals in his last 71 league appearances and such form will only
get him more suitors.
Former Juventus playmaker Diego joined Wolfsburg this summer and has decided to shed some light on the ongoing transfer sags.
“Dzeko is one of the best strikers in the world. I would be happy to play alongside him, but I know Edin has an option to move to Juve in the summer. I think it will end with Dzeko completing his transfer. In that case I will wish him good luck with his
future.”
The Brazilian trequartista was signed by Juventus only last year. Despite early season promise, the former Werder Bremen attacker failed miserably and moved back to German Bundesliga earlier this summer. Diego has also spoken about the time he spent at Juventus,
“It was good, hard training. Unfortunately, the results did not com. But I have great memories of the friends and fans and even the press. They treated me really well and all is well between us”
Diego’s latest comments will surely send the transfer rumours in to an overdrive as Bianconeri look to acquire a world class striker.
