The former Bianconeri defender predicts that the absence of missing centre-backs will be a big worry for the Old Lady in the crucial game against the Rossoblu.
Former Juventus centre-back, Sergio Brio, has voiced his concerns on the weakened Juventus defence, ahead of their re-scheduled league match with Bologna.
The match is extremely important for the Bianconeri to bridge the three-point gap between them and league leaders, AC Milan, in the race for the Scudetto. The Old Lady will travel to Bologna, without the services of their first-choice
central defenders, Giorgio Chiellini and Andrea Barzagli.
While talking to the TMW, the Italian said:
“They will certainly be missed. The absences of Barzagli and Chiellini will be very important. Barzagli is having a fantastic campaign and he’s given some solidity to the defence. Meanwhile, Chiellini has improved after not such
a brilliant season”.
Leonardo Bonucci and Martin Caceres are expected to replace the injured duo. Juventus have drawn the maximum number of matches by any team in Serie A this season. Brio believes that the Turin giants desperately need a win against
a modest Bologna side in order to elevate their hopes of winning the Scudetto for the first time since their relegation.
“This game will be an important one for the Scudetto. Juventus want to send an important signal to Milan and demonstrate, yet again, that they haven’t given up.”
Barzagli and Chiellini both suffered calf-strains in their last match against Chievo Verona. The former is out for three-weeks, while the latter is expected to make a return against Fiorentina in 10 days.
With the AC Milan putting some promising performances in Serie, the match is absolutely vital for Juve to send a strong signal to Milan.
After finishing the last two seasons on the 7th spot in the league, the Turin giants have surprised everyone with their emergence as genuine title contenders this season. Antonio Conte’s men have not lost a single game
throughout the ongoing campaign.
The game will be played at Stadio Dall’Ara on Wednesday, March 7.
