The Bianconeri website states that the remembrance of the departed player is added motivation for the Old Lady to triumph over Cesena in their upcoming league game.
Juventus will be going for the kill against Cesena in order to honour the memory of Andrea Fortunato, on his death anniversary.
The former Bianconeri player was a promising left-back for the team, and departed for the next world after losing his health to leukaemia.
Juventus’ official website went the extra mile to remember the past member, with words of respect for the player. Historical words of Gianluca Vialli, said on the eve of the player’s funeral, were also displayed gracefully on the website.
The words of kindness cherished the player as an energetic individual whose charm always looked invincible. They praised the player for his valour, bravery and character with which he faced his prolonged pain of illness.
It stated that his battle with sickness was far better than any on the field of football, and assured that the player will always be remembered in honourable words at the club.
The words on the website went:
“We believed you to be invincible. In these 11 months you were an example for us, for how you dealt with true problems – not those to do with winning and losing – with courage and calmness, strength and determination. We loved you and will keep you in our
hearts. Honour to you, our brother Andrea Fortunato.”
The Bianconeri manager, Antonio Conte, was also a member of the team with Fortunato at Juventus, and the death anniversary will be an added motivation for the coach to win the game against Cesena to honour his memory.
“Conte will have an additional reason to spur his men on to success in Cesena this evening. A success in memory of the unforgettable Andrea Fortunato. Forever in our hearts.” The Old Lady’s official website continued.
Fortunato suffered from a rare form of Leukaemia while playing for Genoa. The defender recovered after a compelling fight with the disease, and earned his transfer to Juventus where he tragically caught pneumonia which proved to be fatal. The Italian player
passed-on at the age of 23.
