Juwan Howard staring at the possibility of not playing for the Miami Heat next season – NBA News
The Miami Heat were almost flawless last season, with LeBron James playing the season of his career and Dwyane Wade showing flashes of the magic that made him the best player in the league back in 2006. Add Chris Bosh to the equation
with his hustle plays in the low post as well as his shooting abilities, and the Heat looked formidable which ultimately was the case.
However, there was one huge gaping hole in the Heat line-up, and that was the lack of a quality centre. Miami tried different ways to somehow cover that gap, and eventually decided on playing Bosh at  five for a lot of minutes.
The Heat are anticipated to do the same thing this season as well, moving Bosh to centre and playing with a smaller line-up. Miami did just sign centre Josh Harrellson to a non guaranteed contract. This might mean that Juwan Howard
will be without a team next season.
Howard was a backup centre for Miami last season, and is currently without a contract. However, he hopes to return for next season and play one more time for the defending champions, and is working out with the Heat.
Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald has reported that Howard is looking to be picked up again by the team, and is sticking around, practicing with the roster for the upcoming season.
Miami has Joel Anthony and Dexter Pittman locked for the next season, meaning they have only one spot for either Harrellson or Mickell Gladness. If that is the case, they will not have a spot for the aspiring Howard.
Howard, an 18 year veteran in the NBA, averaged 1.5 points and 1.7 rebounds for the team last season, averaging 6.8 minutes in 28 games. He failed, much like the rest of the back-up centres in the Heat roster, to provide any kind
of stability at the centre position and hold the fort down for the team.
