Jwala Gutta confident to put on good show at London Olympics 2012 – Badminton news
India’s famous shuttler Jwala Gutta, who has recently got enough points to qualify for London Olympics 2012 in the Mixed Doubles and Women’s Doubles categories, is confident to get good results in London.
Jwala and Ashwini Ponnappa are currently ranked at number 20 in Women’s Doubles world placements and are expected to get a higher position when Badminton World Federation will reveal its world rankings.
In the category of Mixed Doubles, Jwala and V. Diju are positioned at number 15 in the world rankings.
They have been playing remarkable badminton for the last couple of years and have got a respectable position in the world.
In both categories, Jwala has qualified for Olympic Games and is determined to live up to expectations in the mega event.
After getting much needed ranking points to qualify for the Olympic Games, Jwala said that she is very happy with that.
She said, "We are finally through. We got our job done. I would be happy to know it the next week officially. But I am delighted. It is a special feeling and we hope to play good badminton in Olympics."
While talking about her prospects of winning a medal at Olympic Games, she said with confidence that they can win a medal in both categories.
She added, "Olympic is special and precious for any athlete. When we could win the bronze in the World championship, I think it is not an impossible task to win a medal in Olympics. On a given day, if we are strong on the mind, probably we can win a medal
in one of the events.”
Last year, Jwala and Diju played tremendous badminton in China Open and remained successful in reaching at the semi-final stage.
In their road to semi-final, they defeated China’s second seeded players in front of their home crowd. Now, she is quite confident to get desired results in London Olympics as well.
The in-form Jwala will compete in two events at Olympic Games as she will play in Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles categories and is looking forward to prepare well for the mega event.
