for the World Championships.
Jwala, with the partnership of Ashwini Ponnappa stunned everyone at Wembley when they reached in Women’s Doubles semi-final. The Indian shuttlers proved their wonderful badminton skills by beating a row of the top ranked shuttlers in the previous rounds
of the World Championships in London.
The performance of the Indian pair has boosted their confidence which will help them in putting up a strong show at the 2012 London Olympics. Jwala and Ashwini have attained the highest level of skills through the untiring and dedicated hard work in training
sessions. Now, their hard work is leading them towards the top level of the game.
While talking about her feelings after winning a bronze medal at the World Championships, Jwala said, “Worlds, for sure, was a big success for us. A medal in the World Championship is what every sportsperson desires of since starting their sporting journey.
Being one of the biggest tournaments, it is almost equivalent to Olympics and I am really happy to do well.”
She further expressed her future plans by saying, “The next big thing is Olympics and I have my eyes on it as I know a medal there will help a lot. For now, my next target is China Super Series and Japan Super Series. If I do well there, I am sure I will
go to Olympics with best possible frame of mind.”
After the recent terrific performance in the World Championships, Jwala and Ashwini have got a better world ranking. Now, they are placed at Number 17 in the Women’s Doubles world rankings. The duo is in tremendous form and if they manage to maintain consistency,
getting into the top-10 at the end of the current year is not an out of question task.
